PROJECT
PUHINUI, AUCKLAND
LOCATION
CLIENT HISTORY
Part of ongoing city-wide transport infrastructure installations and upgrades.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
Auckland Transport upgraded Puhinui Station to become a multimodal interchange station, including elevated concourse and platform connections. The station design reflects the history of the area and was designed in partnership with Mana Whenua.
Bartons was contracted to deliver a sound system solution to provide automated dual language passenger announcements to public areas which had to be combined with the building's EWS for evacuation purposes.
PROJECT CHALLENGES
The stations design encompassed challenging acoustic spaces which required a sound system that would be robust, effective, aesthetically pleasing as well as meeting NZS 4512 and IEC 60849 standards.
RESOLUTION
Bosch Praesideo combined EWS, JBL Intellivox powered adjustable column speakers, Sennheiser wireless assistive listening. Utilisation of BIM modelling to increase productivity and reduce clashes and re-works during design and installation. Using specific speaker technologies, we were able to retain high announcement intelligibility whilst reducing the visual impact of the sound system on the buildings fabric.
